Honda Side-By-Side Grabs Second Place In “Coolest Thing Made in SC”

Over 220,000 votes were cast throughout the course of the competition, and voting took place across 122 countries around the world. Their participation was highlighted by a variety of news outlets to include The Post & Courier, ABC Columbia, SCNow and WBTW.  While they did not take home the top spot, they placed second overall out of 246 products!

Additionally, they were honored to receive a resolution from S.C. Senator, Kevin Johnson, last week for being a “manufacturing company that brings great pride to the State of South Carolina and the nation”!

of Commerce. A ribbon cutting was held on Thursday, March 16th at the Chamber office.

In 1915, W.P. Baker hung a sign in his downtown Raleigh shop indicating that Baker Roofing (then Baker Rawls Tin Shop) was open for business. That sign read ‘We shall do good work. At a profit, if we can, at a loss if we must, but always good work’. In the 108 years that have passed, Baker Roofing Company has grown to 27 locations in 8 states and expanded in divisions known as Home Exteriors by Baker, Baker Restoration, Baker Coatings, and Peak Metal Products to offer full building envelope solutions. Two Florence 1 Schools, Carver & Moore, Represented in Palmetto’s Finest Program

Two Florence Schools (Carver Magnet Elementary and John W. Moore Middle) were among ten schools in South Carolina named as finalists in the Palmetto’s Finest Awards Program.

The selection process includes a comprehensive review of a school’s program, focusing on the key question: “What impact is this school making on the lives of students and the community, and is it deserving of the Palmetto’s Finest Award?”

The Palmetto’s Finest award was announced remotely from SC ETV this week. Faculty, staff and students from both Carver Magnet School and John W. Moore Middle School watched the announcement from their schools via live streaming.

FMU School of Business Honors Freeman With Alumni Award

Francis Marion University’s School of Business honored North Augusta businessman Tracy Freeman with the 2023 Morgan B. Coker Outstanding Alumni award at its annual alumni reception held at the FMU Performing Arts Center on Tuesday night.

Freeman, a 1992 graduate of FMU with a Bachelor of Science in economics, is president of Fidelity One Construction, a residential construction company in North Augusta, and is the manager of Freeman Septic Tank Inc.

Since 2010, Freeman has been a member of the FMU Board of Trustees. He is also active in his community, where he currently serves as chairman of the Edgefield County Fire Board and sits on the County Line Fire Department Board. He has also served on the Aiken County Home Builders Association, Wells Fargo Community Board, Edgefield Senior Citizen Center board, Edgefield County Planning and Zoning Board, and the Francis Marion Alumni Advisory Board.
