Pee Dee Coalition To Host Cookies & Cocoa With Santa Drive-Thru

The Durant Children’s Center and the Junior League of Florence will offer Cookies and Cocoa with Santa on Saturday, December 17th from 2:00 – 4:00 PM.

At this event, children will have the opportunity to wave to Santa and deliver your Christmas lists straight to his mailbox.   Cookies and cocoa will be provided.

The annual event is free and open to the public.

Durant Children’s Center, a program of Pee Dee Coalition, is located at 226 South Irby Street in Downtown Florence.

Young Professionals of Florence To Host Ugly Sweater Social

Join Young Professionals of Florence on December 16 at Cru Wine Bar at 5:30 PM for their final networking event of the season! Bring all of your friends and enjoy the holidays with YP. There will be fun games, drinks, and apps to enjoy!  They will be collecting toys for Lighthouse Ministries’ Toy Drive. Santa Is Coming To The Florence Regional Airport

Santa Fly is scheduled for Saturday, December 10th at 11am as Santa will be flying over Florence Regional Airport and landing with a gift for the children in attendance. Bring the kids out for this fun family event!

City of Florence Is Holding A Winter Supply Drive

The City of Florence Recreation, Athletics & Sports Tourism are in need of donations.  They are accepting new or gently used coats, scarves and gloves as well as new socks, hats and new unwrapped toys.  Donations are being accepted thru December 8th at the 5 drop off locations.

Bridal Hut Joins Florence Chamber

The Bridal Hut in Florence has been in business more than 45 years in the same locations. On Tuesday, November 22nd a ribbon cutting was held at the Bridal Hut to celebrate joining the Greater Florence Chamber of Commerce.

Owner Radha Dillah cut the ribbon. She was joined by Chamber staff and ambassadors.

“I am the third owner,” Dillah said. “The previous owner retired.”

Dillah said she was originally in the alterations business and continues to own R&D, a sewing shop on Church Street.

97 Cares Joins Chamber And Celebrates With Ribbon Cutting

A ribbon cutting was held on Thursday, November 17th for 97 Cares, 906 Pamplico Highway in Florence, celebrating its membership in the Greater Florence Chamber. The owner of 97 Cares was joined for the ribbon cutting by Chamber staff and ambassadors.

The company is a mobile, durable medical equipment company with its business headquarters in Hanahan. The company opened its doors on Jan. 1, 2018, for the single purpose of improving clients’ quality of life with dignity. The company is owned and operated by service-disabled veteran Samuel Brown, who earned a bronze star while serving in Afghanistan.

“The name 97 Cares is in honor of this US Veteran owner’s father, who passed away a week before his 98th birthday,” Brown said.

Japan-Based Battery Technology Company To Bring 1,170 Jobs To Florence County

A global battery technology company headquartered in Japan will invest $810 million and create 1,170 new jobs in Florence County to support the company’s multi-year partnership with the BMW Group.

Envision AESC is committed to research, development, design, manufacturing and sales of power batteries for EV’s and energy storage batteries, according to a release.

The plant will be located in an 870-acre Technology and Commerce Park in Florence, with convenient proximity to the interstate and Inland Port Dillon, the Florence plant will encompass approximately 1.5 million square feet.
