Florence Chamber Participates in the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives ACCELERATE Conference

Les Echols, Director of Community and Minority Enterprise for the Greater Florence Chamber, participated in the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives ACCELERATE Conference in Indianapolis last week.

Les was part of a team of speakers that talked about diversity, equity and inclusion and how it can be embedded in everything chambers do. The program was modeled after TED Talks, with rapid-fire presentations meant to inspire attendees to consider what’s possible at other chambers of commerce across the country.

Les also shared the ups and downs of how to build trust and accountability for DEI to take root within the business community.

Jr. Leadership Florence County 4-H Program Kick Off

The Jr. Leadership Florence County 4-H Program kicked off their 2022-2023 year with their Opening Retreat Camp Bob Cooper in Summerton on Monday, July 25th and Tuesday, July 26th. The students truly enjoyed learning more about each other while strengthening their skills. They bonded through icebreakers, leadership and personality assessments, and team-building exercises.

In August, they will have “Meet Me at the Lanes,” where they will have a night to mingle with each other before the monthly sessions start in September.

Without the partnership between Clemson Extension/ 4-H, FMU, and the Greater Florence Chamber of Commerce, this program would not be possible. We are thankful for the support from the community and the donations that the program receives. We have an incredible group of students and look forward to a successful year ahead.

Special thanks to Camp Bob Cooper for hosting us and the Florence School District Two for assisting us with transportation.
