City Offers Earth Day Native Tree Giveaway on April 29

The City of Florence and Duke Energy, in partnership with Naturally Outdoors, Keep Florence Beautiful, and the South Carolina Forestry Commission, will host an Earth Day Native Tree Giveaway on April 29 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, or while supplies last. The event will take place on the back lawn of Naturally Outdoors, located at 2519 W. Palmetto Street.

Trees will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Representatives from the South Carolina Forestry Commission will be available to provide information on the tree species being given away, discuss planting techniques, and answer any arbor-related questions.

Duke Energy Makes Donation to Building Bridges

Last week, Mindy Higgs Taylor, Director of Government & Community Relations at Duke Energy, presented a check from the Duke Energy Foundation to the Greater Florence Chamber of Commerce helping to support the Chamber’s ongoing Building Bridges Diversity and Leadership program.

The mission of the Building Bridges project is to help enable the Greater Florence community to address diverse issues by the process of changing attitudes & hearts through education and situational awareness.

Keep Florence Beautiful’s Great American Cleanup

Join Keep Florence Beautiful and their partners as they celebrate America’s 250th anniversary!

Groups and individuals are invited to take part in this year’s Great American Cleanup by volunteering to help clean up litter. Simply scan the QR code to register. Afterward, enjoy a free, Earth Day-themed event for the whole family at the City Center Farmers Market.

SBA and Florence SBDC to Host Lender Matchmaker Event

In partnership with the SBA, the Florence SBDC is hosting a Lender Matchmaker Event for the Pee Dee Area. Small Business Owners will have the opportunity to meet directly with banking lenders to discuss their capital financial needs. Last year’s event was a huge success for several businesses that were able to secure financing through these introductions.

This free event will be held on Tuesday, May 5th from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM at the Drs Bruce & Lee Foundation Library (509 S Dargan St).
