Fellows in Education Visit West Florence High School

Last Tuesday, the Fellows in Education Class visited West Florence High School.

The visit and the lunch were nothing short of incredible as students, faculty, and school staff worked hard to plan and share a school presentation, tour, and classroom activities for the group of 30 community leaders.

Fellows in Education is a joint program between Florence 1 Schools, The School Foundation and the Greater Florence Chamber of Commerce and is designed to give local community leaders a unique, behind-the-scenes look into schools across Florence 1 over the course of eight months.

Jr. Leadership Florence County Participates Agribusiness Day Session

Last Friday, the Jr. Leadership Florence County Class of 2026–2027 participated in their Agribusiness Day Session, exploring South Carolina’s number one industry, Agribusiness.

Throughout the day, students gained firsthand knowledge into the agricultural industry, learned about its economic impact on our state, and discovered the wide range of career opportunities available in agriculture and related fields.

From farm operations to agricultural research and education, the young leaders experienced how innovation, hard work, and leadership help keep South Carolina’s agricultural industry thriving.

We’d like to thank our wonderful hosts and presenters for much of this month’ s session – Mr. Ted & Staff at McCall Farms, Mr. Richie from Bay Branch Farm, Ms. Bethany Funkhouser, Area Agribusiness Agent. Also thanks to the Clemson University Pee Dee Research & Education Center and Florence County School District Two.

The Jr. Leadership Florence County program is a collaborative partnership among Florence County SC 4-H, the Greater Florence Chamber, and Francis Marion University working together to develop tomorrows leaders.
