South Florence High to Host Men Matter Program

Join South Florence High School as they host the Men Matter program on Thursday, April 7th from 11:00 A.M. – 1:50 P.M. The purpose and goal of the Men Matter program is to encourage and promote more positive male role model involvement in our schools.

Keynote Speakers: Motivational Speaker, Bill Monroe and Former Major League Baseball Player, Orlando Hudson

Fathers, Uncles, Grandfathers, and Community Leaders are all welcome to join this event. There will be door prizes and light refreshments will be served.

Sweet Feet Diabetic Foot Spa Celebrates Chamber Membership with a Ribbon Cutting

Dr. Hillery Dolford specializes in the treatment of feet, especially those of diabetic patients.

“We take good care of your feet (at Sweet Feet Diabetic Foot Spa),” Dolford said.

For their one-year-anniversary, Sweet Feet Diabetic Foot Spa, joined the Greater Florence Chamber of Commerce and held a ribbon cutting on Wednesday, March 30th. Dolford was joined by staff, family and friends and chamber staff and ambassadors as she cut the ribbon.

Dolford has been at the 2724 W. Palmetto St. location since November.

“We provide medical pedicures that focus on diabetic foot care,” she said.

Sweet Feet Diabetic Foot Spa is a medical foot spa that focuses on the safe treatment of diabetic feet. The spa differs from the typical pedicure salon in that the patient receives a medical-grade pedicure. The spa was created for diabetics but is open to people with poor blood circulation, neuropathy, fungal infections, cracked heels, ingrown/overgrown toenails or those in need of a medically safe pedicure.

First Lady Dispatch and Logistics Holds Ribbon Cutting

First Lady Dispatch and Logistics in downtown Florence held a ribbon cutting on Thursday, March 17th celebrating joining the Greater Florence Chamber of Commerce. Owner Regina C. Ford cut the ribbon and was joined by chamber staff and ambassadors, family, friends and clients.

First Lady Dispatch and Logistics is located at 392 W. Evans St.

As a dispatcher, Ford negotiates freight rates for truckers.

She has been in business since 2020, and recently received her freight broker license. Freight brokers work with shippers and carriers.

“My main goal is to be a service to others,” she said.

Ford said her door is always open. She said it has been a wonderful journey so far, and she looks forward to the journey ahead.

While the job can be 24/7, office hours at the downtown location are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Ford said she does work remotely and is available any time that she is needed.

Our Kickball for a Cause event is just around the corner, and we would be honored to have you involved! One hundred percent of the funds raised from this event will benefit six local nonprofit organizations, Harvest Hope, House of Hope, Lydia’s Nest, NCNW, Pee Dee Coalition, and United Way. This philanthropic event is not only a chance for our community to participate a healthy, fun activity, but it will also have broad-reaching benefits for these worthy nonprofit organizations.

Kickball for a Cause will be held on Dailey Field at Florence Darlington Technical College on Saturday, May 21, 2022, and we hope that you will consider showing your or your company’s support for such a deserving cause. Junior Leadership Florence Visits Columbia for State Government Session

On Tuesday, March 8th, the Junior Leadership Florence County Class attended their State Government Session in Columbia for the SC 4-H Legislative Day. Special thanks to Mr. Sym Singh, Director of Legislative Affairs for speaking with the group and giving them a tour of the Governor’s Office and to Lieutenant Governor Evette for sharing inspirational words with our members.

Fellows in Education Visit Dewey L Carter Elementary

Dewey L Carter Elementary School played host to the latest gathering of the 2021-2022 Fellows in Education participants on Tuesday, March 8th. School Principal, Mrs. Wendy Frazier explained the focus of the school and the programs motto, which is “Our School is a Family. We strive to be: Committed to Safety, Responsible Learners, and Respectful to One Another Each Day. The Fellows participants toured the school with help for the school’s staff and witnessed classroom instructions in grades K-6.

The Fellows in Education program is designed to give community leaders a unique, behind-the-scenes look into several schools within Florence 1 School system. It is partnership program managed by Florence 1 Schools, The School Foundation and the Greater Florence Chamber of Commerce.

LilJazzi’s Awarded “Business of the Quarter” by the City of Florence & the Florence Chamber of Commerce

Florence City Councilman Chaquez McCall presented Andrena Mullins of LilJazzi’s in Downtown Florence with a resolution to honor the restaurant Monday afternoon at the Florence City Council meeting. The presentation was for the support in helping grow downtown Florence.

The Downtown Business if the Quarter presentation is sponsored by the city of Florence and the Greater Florence Chamber of Commerce. Included in the picture are Mullins’ husband as well as Les Echols and Michael Miller of the Chamber of Commerce.
